Terms of Service
Last updated July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Talon Studio, including the self-hosted software distributed by Talon Labs ("Talon", "we", "us") and the Talon Cloud hosted service, by any organization or individual ("you", "Customer") that downloads, installs, or is granted access to either. By using Talon Studio you agree to these Terms. If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
1. What Talon Studio is
Talon Studio is a detection engineering platform: it helps you author, test, version, and deploy security detections against your own SIEM(s). Talon Studio does not ingest, store, or process your raw security event logs — it reads metadata (index names, field schemas, sample events for testing) from SIEM connections you configure, and writes detection content back to systems you control (your own git repository, your own SIEM).
2. License tiers
Talon Studio is offered under an open-core model. The Community edition is licensed to you free of charge, subject to the usage limits enforced by the product (see the license terms in the repository's LICENSE file, which govern the software itself and control over these Terms in the event of a conflict regarding source code use). Enterprise and Talon Cloud subscriptions are governed additionally by the order form or commercial agreement under which they were purchased.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the security of your own deployment — credentials, network exposure, and access control for any self-hosted instance are yours to configure and maintain.
- You will not use Talon Studio to access, test, or deploy detections against any SIEM or system you are not authorized to access.
- You are responsible for complying with the license terms of any third-party detection content bundled with or downloaded through Talon Studio (see
NOTICE). - For Talon Cloud, you are responsible for the accounts and access you grant to your own users within your tenant.
4. Talon Cloud
If you use Talon Cloud, the hosted version of Talon Studio operated by Talon Labs, additional terms apply regarding data residency, uptime, and backups — see the Data Handling Statement and, once your subscription begins, your order form's SLA terms. Talon Cloud runs each customer in an isolated tenant; it does not pool customer data across tenants.
5. Disclaimer of warranty
TALON STUDIO IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TALON LABS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT DETECTIONS AUTHORED, VALIDATED, OR DEPLOYED THROUGH TALON STUDIO WILL DETECT ANY PARTICULAR THREAT OR ATTACK. Detection validation features are aids to engineering judgment, not a guarantee of security outcomes.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Talon Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of Talon Studio, except as expressly agreed in a separate written commercial agreement.
7. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date on this page.
